About Me

Couples Counselor in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, LA, Venice, Westside

Thank you for visiting my website. I’m glad you’re reaching out. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Art Therapist. I provide psychotherapy for Individuals and Couples in my private practice in West Los Angeles, California. I am passionate about working with people and believe the power of therapy comes from having a good relationship with your therapist. I’m a New Yorker and my style is warm and engaged. I create a relaxed environment that is judgment free. Email me to set up a complementary phone consult.

My Philosophy
People tend to come to therapy because they have a pressing issue they want to resolve or a relationship they want to improve.  I make sure our work is focused and results oriented. Listening and support are a part of it, but really diving in, unpacking issues, and working towards meaningful improvements are the meat of it. Our first session will be dedicated to clarifying your goals, reviewing your background, and beginning to develop strategies for the issue at hand, so hopefully you leave feeling some relief and more of a sense of control.

I use a Mindfulness approach to assist individuals and couples to develop tools to transform negative states, elevate ones mood, better manage stress and anxiety, shift negative patterns and habits, and regulate emotions, so we can be our best selves in our relationships. I couple this with cognitive behavioral tools to assist clients to gain awareness of thoughts, their impact, and to shift towards more balanced and empowering ways of thinking.  I also teach concrete communication skills and conflict resolution strategies, including Gottman methods. My goal is for clients to build a more robust internal toolkit to use towards personal and professional goals as well as to enjoy life more fully and with less anxiety.

I welcome individuals and couples of any sexual or gender orientation and background.

I entered the field at a young age, starting with studying Psychology as an undergrad at NYU. I have worked within the field of mental health ever since. In my 10 years of training and experience I’ve had the opportunity to work in varied settings including outpatient services for adults, employment focused services for adults, substance abuse treatment centers, community mental health programs for children and families, therapeutic residential programs, non-public schools, and a youth correctional facility. These include Cedar Sinai, Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services, Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, Echo Malibu substance abuse treatment center, The HELP Group, and Goddard Riverside of New York.

I received my BA in Psychology at New York University and completed additional coursework at Sydney University, NSW, Australia, and the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY. I completed my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy combined with Art Therapy at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, where I was a member of Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society. My thesis was entitled “An Exploration of the Influence of Family Art Therapy on Individual Treatment with a Child Diagnosed with Asperger’s Disorder.”

Professional Associations
I am a Clinical Member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), the Los Angeles Chapter, LACAMFT, and the American Art Therapy Association (AATA). In order to provide the best services possible I continue to update my knowledge and expertise through attending continuing education courses, professional conferences and engaging in case consultations with colleagues.
